Again, this list is adapted from the book “13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do”
4.) Mentally strong people don’t waste energy on things they cannot control.
You won’t hear a mentally strong baseball player complaining about the umpire, or the weather conditions, or the field conditions. Instead they focus on what they can control in their lives. Things like their effort, their focus, their energy contribution, and their attitude. They recognize that sometimes, the only thing they can control is their attitude.
5.) The mentally strong person doesn’t worry about pleasing everyone.
Mentally strong people recognize that they don’t need to please everyone all the time. Sometimes, if we are sticking to our principles and values, we may need to say no or speak up to someone. They strive to be fair and caring, but can handle other people being upset if we didn’t please them.
6.) Mentally strong people don’t fear taking responsible risks.
They don’t take reckless or foolish risks, but don’t mind taking well planned and thought out risks. Mentally strong people spend time proactively weighing the risks and benefits before making the big decision. They responsibly consider the potential consequences of failure before they take action.
